Goths are not the same as emo. Goth are by far the most intelligent people I come to know. I am not being stereoype but its by far the Goths I met in my life. Goths was around before emo. Emo is to me is just another "culture" that crumbled before it had its chance to to be exploited. To my knowledge Goths don't call themselves Goths. Only posers.

Thankies, well, There are many different kinds of Goths.
For instance, Horror Punk.
Its all music.
But you right.
Goths Don't claim "Goth"
Only Posers.

yeah, they are verrry different, just in the clothing styles- tripp/chain pants vs skinny jeans, wild unique hair vs hiding-in-your-hair lol although both tend to like black
gothic culture has been around for MANY years, whereas emo is a relatively recent stereotype,
music: there are many sub genres of gothic- rock industrial metal trance techno electro
vs emo is pretty must one category
there are entire alternative lifestyles and culture in being goth, vs emo is a style and a small category of music,

goths tend to be the much more open minded to the two, as well as tending to be much darker, everything BDSM is goth,

and just for comparison, punk is not as old as goth, but has much more history and wayyy more culture than emo.
the bottom line is that emo really is just a style/ stereotype, whereas goth can be just a style, it is also a culture

of and btw poppy- the apple seed cast is NOT emo- just alternative, tho props for having even heard of them, and for goth you missed: zombie girl, uberbyte, mankind is obsolete, god module, and many of the other best artists

Music is definitely what influenced these changes in subculture. This is the way I like to see it, http://trickledown.files.wordpress.com/2008/05/hmngp9.jpg

Goth and emo aren't the same!
They are actually both totally different:
Emo is a style of fashion and MUSIC!!

Goth is a period of time with old beautiful churches. And it is a fashion and... MUSIC!

They have morphed into:
Emo: Depression, cutting, saddo, suicidal, unwanted, i'm so alone!
Goth: Sassy sexy, dark, into skulls, sometimes death, evil.

So, totally different!
