Well, if you are talking about Lycans, which by the way, do not exist and are in fact a creation of Hollywood made popular by the movie Underworld, they do not require breathe.

tell that to the guy who can turn into a wolf thanks. cause he clearly doesnt know that and his body doesnt either ;)

Ego Nox Noctis, just because you don't believe in Lycans doesn't mean they don't exist. You don't have to be such a jerk about it. And for Darkest Passion of a Blackbird, well i have no idea, but i'm pretty sure they can go a really really long time.

God, if only people stopped watching movies and roleplaying.

....i don't believe in lycans because i've watched movies about them or because i roleplay because for a fact this is my first time ever roleplaying. No i do believe lycans exist because i can. because there is no proof that they don't, and because I believe anything is possible; also i don't like limiting my self and my believe just because some one else says its not possible or they can't exist.

Noctis. werewolves, or lycans, (they're just different words to describe the same creature) however you want to phrase it are real and exist in this world whether you like it or not, or believe it or not. If they were simply a product of hollywood, then why are there legends and stories of these creatures from hundreds of years ago before hollywood existed?

and about the original question, im sorry, i do not know how long they can go without breathing.

Lycans is an inappropriate term taken from the root lycanthropy. Werewolves, do exist, I do not doubt this at all. They cannot be the same thing, when in fact this section is called Werewolves and Lycans, which implies there is difference. Lycans is a term made popular by the Movie "Underworld", applying to a humaniod offspring of werewolves, which is able to shift at will. That is the reason it is so popular with roleplayers, because after all, why would you want to wait for it?

If you even think logically, it would take days, if not weeks on a biological scale to transform the body from one to the other. A werewolf alone may only be the result of a person/people seeing a shapeshifter in the middle of a change from human to wolf and vice versa.

no, i knew the word lycan even before Underworld was release, so like hell did they make it up. and as i said, you have your opinion and i have mine, and nothing you say will change my mind.

So did I, Lycan is a Dark Jedi, best known for the following statement "Men are not driven by altruism. Deep down there are always... agendas..." ― Lycan

In common English wolf lycans are usually called werewolves and the term lycan is actually quite rarely used. The only more popular mention of the word is in the movie Underworld.
The term stems from Lycaon, the first king of Arcadia in Greek mythology that was cursed by Zeus to assume the shape of a wolf for offering human flesh as either a sacrifice or food to the god, depending on the account.

Odd that all google results come up for Underworld, or something not related to occult at all.

Oh, well. Thank you anyways, wikipedia.

The way I see it, lycan was obviously borrowed from "lycanthrope" which is just another word for werewolf. So Lycan=werewolf.

As for Lycaon being the first king of Arcadia...I'm pretty sure Pelasguse was the first king...Lycaon was his son. Just saying.
well you can just shut up and stop being such a prick. I heard the word Lycan from many books WAY before underworld was created. and the only reason underworld comes up when you type in Lycan is because that is were the word lycan is best known. And contrary to YOUR belief lycan is a type of wearwolf, has been, and always will be, but the difference is that lycan's can turn when they want and wearwolves can't. And as for your, "it would take a really long time for a human body to change," well when we talk about lycan's we aren't using science to define and support the fact any more. And Last of all this descussion is to ask how long a lycan can hold his/her breath. NOT FOR YOU TO DIS ON SOMETHING THAT YOU DON'T BELIEVE IN.
well. underworld would be the first search result because its popular. thats how google works. wikipedia isnt always accurate and trustworthy. and its been of debate many many times in this forum and everyone has always concluded in these discussions that they're 2 terms for the same creature.
