Well i was looking on the Rules/Help page and i seen the rule about not posting anything about self harm/Bulimia or Anerexia unless it's trying to help people get over them. I didn't really think self harm was a disorder.. i knew the other two are disorders but.. well what do you think should self harm be classed as a "disorder"?
sorry if this seems a bit cheeky too ask (this is to the modarators)
as a manic depressant and a schz' i can tell people who don't understand it, but would like to know more (to help others), that it is not the self-harming itselve that is the disease. it's the feelings and thought processes that are. self-harming is only an individual result of this. however, the causes that make them wish to self harm need to be delt with.
all our actions are based on our thought process and natural instincts. instincts such as fire hurts! occur after injury, but it's the thought process that makes people want to touch it in the first place. people who like to play with fire will still go against instincts due to their thoughts and feelings directing them into thinking that is what they want. this way of thinking is considered "unhealthy" and "dangerous" to many but does not to that person. that's why the thought process is the disease, because it isn't rational like it should be.
