The VAMPIRE ACADEMY books aren't bad either. A great series is the FEVER series (DARKFEVER, BLOODFEVER, FAEFEVER, and DREAMFEVER, so far). Written by Karen Marie Moning. They're not about vampires (although there is one vamp), but about Faeries. Not like tinkerbell faeries, but scary disturbing Irish faeries (killer monsters). The fae. Oh, and also HUNGER GAMES by Suzanne Collins (2nd book is CATCHING FIRE). I learned about it from Stephanie Meyer.
