The Salem Witchcraft Trials..
that was a very crazy time in history
who thinks the "witches" were actually witches?
who thinks they weren't and the towns people were all just crazy with the christian beliefs??
It was both. My family is a very long line of true blood witches and several were killed during the trials. As well as some of the woman killed were just healers or just strange that the christians did not like. It is very hard to prove who was and wasn't a witch. Not because there were no records or "evidence" about it. Just that some witches were just healers using magickal ways, others really were.
I'm sure some were witches, but I think that most of the victims were accused because someone didn't like them or they spoke their mind. I think in Europe they "tested" people to see if they were a witch by a trial by water. Meaning if you sank you were innocent. If you floated you were a witch. You died either way.
no it iwas if you floated they left u alone, they were scarred into thinking that you would curse them. i think one witch did, she cursed the land, when a friend of mine took her kids to Salem, she said you could feel the curse there. everyone wasn't as happy, or so it seemed to her. anyway. it went if you sank, you died, if you floated you lived.
I know about them!
there used to be a trial place by my house!
in a circle where there are like victorian houses and it looks like a charles dickens novel when it snows...
it's a beatuiful place but the history scares me
most of the "witches" were people who were envied or just smart...
so yeah i agree with the second one
I have. Well it was purven ( i think thats how u spell it, lol) that most of the "witches" were really helpless people that had nothing to do with witchcraft. The christians and patrians highly believed that if u weren't in there religion u were going to hell. But we all know that real witches don't believe in a hell. I don't anyway. But yes it was a crazy time...it was very sad really :(
i think that the majority of them were, why fight back when u know that you may come back later. why fight, the ppl didn't know that witches and a like don't just live one life, they live many... so they die today to be reborn, in the next life. i do believe though that at that time, b/c there was not much of a leader other than the church, the ppl went overboard with their beliefs. it has been said that even if they blink or look at someone the wrong way they were a witch. you also have to think too, they didn't know alot about medical histories, they didn't have much during that time. so anything out of the ordinary was considered pagans or savages. look up the REAL thanksgiving story, quite the same.

haha, you know, two of my ansestors were tried and convicted during the witch trials.
i belive that there were origionaly a few witches or heretics or whatever in salem, they were found out but gave away that there were many more of them, thus starting a paranoia that lasted many years and killed many women.
everyone was suspected of witch craft because, there was honestly no way of proving they wernt.
guilty until proven inocent.
