Lisa bought school supplies before Uncle Jasper came for dinner; Lisa also was supposed to make dinner and then after clean the house. Lisa made spaghetti, Uncle Jasper did eat it but he complained and then said Lisa was supposed to have a job tomorrow or else he would punish her. Lisa decided to get a job at a book store that she saw in town that was hiring. After dinner Lisa cleaned the dishes and asked if there was anything else but Uncle Jasper was asleep. Lisa went to the television, she turned it off, and she went over to Uncle Jasper’s pill bottle and picked it up. It was a medication that Lisa never heard of; she put it in her pocket and went upstairs. Lisa decided to use this to get high until she found real pills. Lisa changed into a white Canucks jersey and got into bed.
Lisa woke up at 8am; she put a silver hairpin with a black flower piece; a navy blue stretch knit top, black slim-line Capri pants and white ornamental sandals. Lisa braided her hair and put on some light red lipstick. Lisa packed her things, popped two pills of her uncles to get a high and went to the bus stop. It was in the middle of nowhere and it was very hot, Lisa knew the pills were working, she felt so dizzy, she looked down the road and saw the bus, everything seemed slow. The bus stooped in front of Lisa, she got on and saw many different people. There were nerds in the front, punks and Goths in the middle and in the back, preps and jocks. Lisa sat in an empty seat; she took out her notebook and continued to write.
Zach woke up, he groaned in hunger, he was wearing satin black pants and a black guys tank top, his hair was perfect like it had been for the last 300 years. Zach went to the small white mini fridge. He pulled out a bottle of blood and sat on his bed; he unscrewed the cap and drank deeply, his Adam’s apple bobby up and down. He finished the bottle and threw it at the garbage can with perfect aim, it fell inside. Zach dressed in a white V-neck T-shirt, a dark blue collar t-shirt opened, black jeans and black runners. Zach picked up his books and went downstairs, his sister, Alexxa was sitting waiting on the couch, she was filing her black long nails. She was wearing a black button up vest, a black pleated miniskirt and black zip up valour boots. Her black, silky straight hair was in braids with dark red bows and she was wearing Smokey eye makeup and dark red lipstick. Zach picked up the keys, he walked with Alexxa following her.
“It’s the day you’ll meet her, right?” said Alexxa.
Zach stopped on the lawn and turned around, “Why do you care?”
Alexxa was leaning on the banister, “I don’t. I’m wondering why you care.”
Zack sighed, “I just do. Ok?”
Alexxa shrugged her shoulders, they got into a black sports car, Zach was driving, he put on black sunglasses and left.
Lisa put her notebook away as they stopped in front of the school. It looked normal except for the fact there was a forest in the back and it was raining. Lisa went inside, she went to the councilor’s office, picked up her schedule, was told if she needed to talk to anyone about her parents that they were there and then went to her classes. The first class was Socials, they were learning about the beginnings of the 1900s. Lisa wrote down the notes and was sitting in the back, writing.
Zack was listening to his English teacher talk about poetry, Zack was sitting near the door, and he looked to his left and saw her writing. Zach frowned; he closed his eyes and tried to close his mind. He couldn’t let her find out what he really was.
Lisa instantly lost her muse; she was then heard her name called. She looked up and saw the teacher asking her something.
“Lisa, are you listening?” asked Mr. Adey.
“Yes…you were talking about how the technology was different from today and how there were no cell phones or iPods,” said Lisa.
Mr. Adey nodded and continued, Lisa put her hand to her forehead, and it was hot like she had a fever. How could she of just gotten writer’s block? Lisa continued writing notes and listen to the teacher talk about elections until the bell rang. Lisa got up and went to her locker, she put her binder away, and she had a spare for college time. Lisa went to the back of the school to get high a bit, she sat on a stone bench and popped 3 pills inside and closed her eyes to relax. She then heard people coming; she was nervous and dropped the bottle. Lisa tried to pick up the bottle and pills but her hands were numb, a guy bent down and helped her. Lisa groaned a little annoyed, she looked at the guy, he was a skater, and he was wearing a black sweater, baggy pants and old runners. His hair was messy and he was pale.
Lisa stood up, “I’m a little klutzy.”
The guy nodded, “You have a downer. It would be better if you had an upper so you wouldn’t act like that.”
Lisa looked at him; she took out her pill bottle, put the pills inside and showed it to him. He took it and looked at the inscription.
“Definitely a downer,” said the guy, “Try this. I’m Peter by the way.”
Peter gave Lisa a bottle with a few yellow pills, Lisa took them, and she opened the bottle, took two and swallowed, feeling normal.
“I’m Lisa,” said Lisa, “I should go.”
Peter nodded and watched her leave, Lisa went inside, and she turned a corner and bumped into a blonde.
“Sorry,” said Lisa.
The blonde was wearing a blue halter top, white capris and high heels; Lisa picked up her books and stood up.
“Its ok,” said the blonde, “You’re the new girl right? I’m Christina.”
Lisa shook her hand, “Yeah. Lisa.”
“Since you’re new how about you sit with me and my friends?” said Christina.
Lisa nodded and went to her locker; she grabbed her money and went to the lunch room. It was big and white; there were 5 tables that were also white and windows showing the forest. Lisa bought small lasagna, a carton of chocolate milk and a cookie. Lisa found Christina at a table and sat down, there was also a red headed girl with brown framed glasses wearing a green turtle neck, a black African girl wearing a purple exotic shirt and Christina who now had her hair up.
“Hey this is Lisa, she’s the new girl,” said Christina.
Lisa smile and opened her lasagna, she took a plastic fork and took a bite.
“So Lisa going to the “Back to School” party my brother’s hosting?” asked Christina.
Amy pushed her glasses up, “She just moved here. She doesn’t even know your brother.”
“Oh right, sorry,” said Christina, “He’s the blonde jock over there.”
Lisa looked, the jocks were all at one table, they were howling like animals, the blonde was playing with his food and not really paying attention. Lisa looked back, thinking maybe Jake was like her.
“So the party is on Friday, which is tomorrow,” said Christina, “I’ll pick you up. What’s your address?”
Lisa wasn’t listening, she was looking at the two students who just came in, and there was a Goth girl with black hair and a broad shouldered tanned guy with dark brown hair. The guy looked exactly like Zach, everything, even the way he dressed. Zach looked at Lisa, he didn’t smile but stared into her eyes, Lisa felt like he was looking into her soul. Just then Christina shook Lisa out of her trance.
“What?!” asked Lisa a little angry.
Christina arched a brow, “I was just wondering what you were going to wear.”
“Something…slutty,” said Lisa.
She looked back and they were gone, Amy pointed to a table near a door, “They’re over there.”
Lisa looked and saw Alexxa and Zach sitting, Zach was just looked down while Alexxa texted.
“Who are they?” asked Lisa, which she already knew the answer.
“They’re the Williams’ twins; they moved here a few years ago, they’re really weird and gothic. Zach is pretty hot though,” said Christina.
Amy shook her head which made her glasses fall; she picked them up and pushed them up her nose, “They’re ancestors were the friends of some of the founders. After they signed the treaty that made the city official they disappeared.”
Megan wiped her mouth, “Their father invested thousands of dollars in some businesses including the hospital, and they’re rich and live outside of town.”
Christina looked shocked, “You mean in the Founder’s Mansion?”
Megan made a “mhmm” sound; Lisa looked at Christina confused, “What’s the Founder’s Mansion?”
Christina rolled her eyes and Lisa felt stupid, “It’s the mansion where the founders stayed. The 1st founder is supposed to live there which is my family.”
“Then why don’t you?” asked Lisa as she tilted her head.
“Because it’s old and yucky,” said Christina.
“Which means it has history and is dusty because no one’s lived in it for 200 years.”
“Until now,” said Megan.
Lisa looked at the table and Zach and Alexxa were gone. Lisa got up, threw away her food and went to the rest of her classes. Lisa wondered how she was writing about Zach and his sister. This was more of a coincidence. Lisa shook the thought away, she entered her Math class and sat down in the middle, and she dropped her pencil and went to pick it up when she bumped heads with someone else.
“Oww,” They said together.
Lisa looked and saw it was Zach.
