it could be spirits your cats are ok with having around. it's hard to say, my dog doesn't notice alot of the spirits that hang around the house but i think you are seeing the normal type of harmless ghost that is not unuasual to have pop up now and then

hello all i'm an empath and have had a lot of ghostly encounters myself and like to hear what others have seen or have had happen around them, so if anyone wants to share a story of theirs i would like to hear it and i get impressions from people by reading their posts so i can offer advice if anyone needs it
