I am not implying that vampirism originated in ancient Egypt with"Sekhmet" but it is Sekhmet, not Ra that is responsible for the connection (albeit loosely) with vampirism. She was associated with the goddesses given the title "Eye of Ra" . According to myth, Ra became angry because mankind was not following his laws and preserving Ma'at (justice or balance). He decided to punish mankind by sending an aspect of his daughter, the "Eye of Ra". He plucked Hathor from Ureas on his brow, and sent her to earth in the form of a lion. She became Sekhmet, the "Eye of Ra" and began her rampage. The fields ran with human blood. However, Ra was not a cruel deity, and the sight of the carnage caused him to repent. He ordered her to stop, but she was in a blood lust and would not listen. So Ra poured 7,000 jugs of beer and pomegranate juice (which stained the beer blood red) in her path. She gorged on the "blood" and became so drunk she slept for three days. When she awoke, her blood lust had dissipated, and humanity was saved.

Ra (Re) was the primary name of the sun god. He was often considered to be the King of the Gods and thus the patron of the pharaoh and one of the central gods of the Egyptian pantheon. He was also described as the creator of everything. Ra was so powerful and popular and his worship was so enduring that some modern commentators have argued that the Egyptian religion was in fact a form of veiled monotheism with Ra as the one god. This seems to be somewhat of an overstatement, but underlines his primary position within religious texts throughout Egyptian history.

Well, from what I've heard and peiced together the orgianal vampire was an Egyptian priest. Unfortunately thousands of years worth of rumors and media have changed the origianal meaning of the Vampiric nature. No doubt that others like myself are real, we feed and live in the dark but only because our breeding has changed. The origianal vampires fed on life and spirits through, well magic ( for lack of a better term). Origianly they fed and the skin, organs, and bones would fall in a bloody pile....so you can imagine where the blood sucking came from. There are really atleast 3 breeds of Vampires....but that's only a theory. I hope someone can speak up on this theory.

Well... my partner was probably alive around that time but she is not full vampire so I don't believe that counts for the purpose of this discussion..

Just to clear something up; Sire's can become very annoying. Many of my close peers have killed sires. They annoy the hell out of you.

The first were in Egypt. It doesn't really have too much influence on our society, though, knowing who was the first. Ultimately, people believe whatever is convenient and reinforces their lifestyle.

A note on Vlad Dracul, he was NOT a vampire. Some of his descendants became vampires, but the whole thing with him stabbing the cross and drinking its blood was just from the movie Bram Stoker's Dracula, starring Gary Oldman and Wynona Rider.

Vampires go back to early ancient Egypt, but not farther than that.

This story concerns the ancient origins of the Vampire: http://drakulya.50webs.com/ Please make up your own mind. With regards to planet Earth, remember that official history is mostly a lie to control the human masses.

the first vampires are in hiding right now trying to blend in and wont reveal themselves until we vampires fail in a takeover or on the brink of extinction for they are the only invincible ones among us...
