altough you will be suprised as to what and who they are, Buffy makes them look sane trust me they are far from it insane to the point of being soldiers only as they see it, and would kill their own child or mother if the order is given to do so.

Another thing Buffy does not reveal is that yes there is generational hunters who keep such business in the family through centuries BUT there is also a vast underground orginisations acting as military contractors or body gaurds durring the day but who take up the stake so to speak during the night, The most dangerous of these groups are those employed by the Vatican them selves and those who work as a branch/order with in the Vatican.
The hunters could be the local priest ; police officer ; military personell ; vampires them selves (of which I know of one such case only) and even "Mr Jenkins with the sweet dog, next door" or even an entire town once they coined you for what you are (if that town is maintained by orthedox Christian believes and heavy conservitive traditions)

And they are trained and also share information on what is your weaknesses and how to kill us so I would say yes, altough so far I am still breathing so as to their effectiveness well that comes down to the Vampire him/her self and the knowlage and expertise he or she posess along with the information on the hunters them selves.

It also comes down to what you would call Vampiric Charm (it saved my behind more times than I can count) so much so the very hunters hired to kill informed me of who hired them and went to kill those who hired them to kill me.

I hope you are satisfied seeing as I can not go into more detail on this subject.

What about slayers like Buffy the Vampire Slayer? Do they exist and can they kill vampires?

there is one single immortal that connects us, that is where we get the power of immortallity. the vampire saw the wolves as a threat to my kind because they are the only ones who can kill us virtually.
