Midnight Blood Chapter 5

Lisa stalked her way to school, she felt darker, she didn’t want to talk to anyone or listen to anyone’s stupid gossip. Zach noticed that something was wrong, Lisa went to only her English class, made snide remarks and when she was kicked out, she happily left and went to get some drugs by Peter. Lisa went to the back of the school and saw Peter; she smiled and walked seductively to him.
“So what do you got?” asked Lisa.
Peter looked at her and smiled, he showed her a bag of small blue pills, “Try some. Ecstasy makes you fall in love.”
Lisa smiled, she took three pills and swallowed them with some vodka that Peter had, Lisa smiled, she went to go kiss Peter when Zach’s voice rang through the afternoon air.
“Lisa!” said Zach loudly.
Lisa groaned and rolled her eyes, she turned around and saw Zach in a black sweater, black jeans and his hair was perfect.
“What the hell do you want?” asked Lisa, “I didn’t think you were the kind to get high.”
“May I talk to you?” asked Zach, he looked at Peter, “Alone.”
Lisa sighed, she turned back to Peter, she smiled and kissed him on the lips with some tongue, she hugged him and walked towards Zach. Zach and Lisa walked to the entrance of the lunchroom.
“Why are you doing this?” asked Zach.
“Listen I haven’t told anyone anything, I’m not going to bother you so just leave me alone,” said Lisa.
“I need to talk to you,” said Zach, “You can’t put any of my family history or what hurts me in your book.”
Lisa rolled her eyes, “I haven’t. See…I don’t know about your family or what hurts you, I’ve made it up.”
“You did?” said Zach a bit shocked, “So all you’ve written is what I do?”
“Yeah so leave me alone!” said Lisa and she went inside.
Zach followed her to the empty lunchroom, he grabbed her arm, Lisa yelled out and pulled back, Zach looked at his fingers and there was blood. Zach’s eyes slowly became dark red, Lisa backed away, she covered her cuts and looked at Zach.
“So your eyes do change,” said Lisa.
Jake came into the lunchroom, he took Lisa’s arm and stepped in front of her.
“What did you do to her?!” yelled Jake.
“Nothing!” growled Zach with fangs and he disappeared.
Smoke went everywhere, a fire alarm went off and people screamed about a smoke bomb, Jake grabbed Lisa’s hand and tried to bring her to an entrance when someone bumped into her, Lisa fell to the ground and bumped her head.

Lisa woke up in a bright room, she tried to sit up but there were cords in her arms, Lisa looked closely and saw they were IVs. One was blood, the second was for nutrients, Lisa looked around and saw no one there. Lisa found the nurse button and picked it up; she pressed on the button and waited. No one came, Lisa pressed it multiply times, slowly the door opened, Lisa sat up and screamed as a large black dog jumped on her.

Lisa sat up and screamed as the nurses held onto her, they tried to calm her down but she continued to cry and said “it” would hurt her. Jake held on her hand telling her it was a nightmare but nothing worked. Zach was walking down the hall with Lisa’s favorite flower a dark rose when he heard the screams. He looked inside the room and saw Lisa screaming and crying as the nurses tried to calm her. Zach put the flower down carefully; he pushed past Jake and put his hands on the side of her head. His eyes turned black and he looked deep in her eyes.
“It’s going to be ok, nothing is going to hurt you, it’s not real,” said Zach.
Lisa licked her bottom lip and nodded and then fainted, Zach laid her down carefully, the nurses checked her statistics and Jake just starred at him, Zach took out the lilies and put in the rose.
“What was that?” asked Jake.
Zach turned to him, “She has nightmares, saying it doesn’t exist calms her. Here, she’s allergic to lilies.”
Zach threw the lilies at him; Jake frowned and put the lilies down on the tray table.
“I was here first,” said Jake.
“J-Jake…I want to talk to him,” said Lisa’s scratchy voice.
Jake nodded and left the room, Zach smiled a bit sadly and sat beside Lisa; Lisa looked at the rose and smiled.
“So how do you know stuff about me?” asked Lisa.
Zach frowned and stood up, he went to the window and looked at the setting sun, Lisa rolled on her side and propped herself on her elbow.
“Your going to have to tell me sometime,” said Lisa.
Zach softly growled, “1935, was when it happened. I entered World War 2 like my father, thinking I would fight a bit, come home and have some fun. I was in the Blitzkrieg in Britain, it was my first week and a large pound of glass hit me. I was going to die in a week, three days in the most. I was hallucinating so when a pale, beautiful nurse came to my side and told me she could give me a new life I just said, “Take away the pain”. She turned me right there and then, I woke up in a grave in Prince Rupert and started my life alone.”
“ Alone? What about you’re…sire is it?” asked Lisa.
Zach nodded, “Sire. Her name was Patricia Pinkford and she thought it didn’t work so she killed herself.”
Lisa made a cried gasp, “I am so sorry.”
“I…didn’t kill anyone good, just thieves and thugs but I wanted to learn more so I started looking into my family history, I found out that I was from princes and kings in Romania,” said Zach, “I was about to take a trip to Romania when someone knocked on my door and it changed my life…again.”
“Who was it?” asked Lisa crossing her legs now.
“My father,” said Zach, “He was the sire of Patricia, he heard how she died and now he was searching for his “child” as he called it. He took me in and we started a family, a big vampire Goth family. He was rich and I got everything I wanted, a motorcycle, cool clothes and even a sister. Dad turned Alexxa in 1991, she tried to sleep with him at first, she left her parents and he turned her. We moved to Prince Rupert for the rainy times and no sun and then I met you.”
“ What about me? How are we connected?” asked Lisa.
“I don’t know I just know we are and I know that…” Zach turned back around.
“That what?” asked Lisa.
“That I if I stay around you then I might do something I don’t want to,” said Zach.
Lisa nodded, “I do know that I’m not scared of you, I never have been, I know what you are and I am trust you more then anything else.”
Zach smiled and sat down, he tried relaxing a bit and kept shifting his weight. Lisa smirked, she laid on her side and arched her brow.
“So do you ever sit still?” asked Lisa.
Zach shook his head shyly and they started laughing. Zach looked at his watch and groaned.
“What is it?” asked Lisa.
“I have to go, I have…family dinner with dad,” said Zach.
Lisa nodded, Zach kissed Lisa’s forehead and said, “I’ll come by later to see how your doing.”
Zach waved and left, just then the doctor came in, he had black hair, was native and had dark brown eyes.
“Hello Lisa, I’m your doctor, Jared Wolfe,” said Dr. Wolfe, “Now your tests came back normal so we’re going to let you go home tomorrow.”
“ But I thought my tests were normal,” said Lisa.
“They are,” said Dr. Wolfe, “But sometimes a concussion can grow into something more.”
Lisa nodded, “Thanks. I’m going to take a nap, if any of my friends come then just let them in.”
Dr. Wolfe nodded and left, Lisa turned on her side, thought about what to do with her life and hoped no one found out about Uncle Jasper.
