Nathan walked down the blackened stairwell. He lightly brushed his hand scross the stone cold wall, the wall guiding him to the basement. The midnight noises of the crickets and occasional car was all he hear sine the thump of a limp body hitting the cement of the basement. That is what had woke him.
He finally reached a steel down. He slowly pushed open the door, fearfully, and it creaked.
Nathan walked into the pitch black room, jumping when the door slammed shut behind him. He searched, frantically, for a light switch, and sighed out of relief when he found one.
The lights flickered for a moment finally settling into a dim glow. His eyes scanned the slightly illumnated room. Seeing nothing unusual he turned to leave, but something caught his eye. He squinted at the corner behind some boxes at a wet spot on the ground.
Nathans heartbeat sped up as he creeped toward the boxes, and gasped at the sickening scene. It was his neighbor. The young lady had been, mercilessly stabbed multiple times. He turned back to run up the stairs. He was blinded by a bright light that raced across the room, losing his footing, and falling down the steep steps.
His head hit the ground with a crack. He let out a hellish shriek before being pulled into the peaceful darkness.
Nathan woke back up, with a terrible headache. He was still lying on the base of the basement steps, just where he had gone unconcious. He couldn't remember anything but the murder and a blinding light making him fall, from the night before. He lifted up his head to look, nervously around the room. But groaned and stoped because of the sharp pain in his head. He lifted his hand to feel where he had hit theground and he felt something wet, blood. Still, he got up and looked over at the spot where he had seen the girl. But the corpse was gone and the floor clean from any signs of blood
