Poem ~ Find Me

I open my eyes and look around.
There is nothing,
no light, no sound.
Complete and total dark silence envelopes me
so that I am nothing.
Just a speck of dust on a dirt road,
but through the silence I hear a faint sound.
What is it?
I listen harder straining to hear.
It is the sound of foot steps far away
I try to scream
but nothing comes out.
The foot steps are coming near
I allow myself to a small glimmer of hope
closer still they come.
I can now hear the breathing to.
I try to call out
but my mouth won't move.
Voices call out my name,
but I can't answer.
"Here I am!" My head is screaming;
My voice doesnt break through.
So here I am
laying on the ground
wrapped in the dark silence once more.
They did not find me
I should have known they wouldn't.
They did not find where my last breath was took.
So now I'm here
in a never ending sleep.
I wish someone would find me.
