"Aisling's friend" is an imbecile. Vampyre is pronounced the same as Vampire.
Not to pull rank, but I do assume I would know more than someone whose been here less than a century. My kind know all there is to know of us, why should one person's voice change over a millenia of knowledge?
What is an "Atlantan" ?
I think she means Aisling is a mortal vampire, those who call themselves Sanguinarians...or Psychic Vampyres...As for her friend who was bitten, that is highly unlikely.
The only real difference is that "Vampyres" are the human version of Vampires.

- My name is Daiji Phoenix, or rather, this is the name I currently answer to. I am one of the few authentic Immortals, and am almost as old as the Earth itself, full reincarnations, of course. Same features, abilities, just renewed. I was here through the evolution of man and the rise and fall of my peoples' secret empire. We are not the Ancients, however. I am a Vampire, primarily, but I have a bit of Shapeshifter blood running through my veins. Outwardly, I seem almost as normal as most, with exception of my incredibly fluid movements and allure.
Over my years, people have bowed to me. Declared me a goddess, even. I do not appreciate as such as I am no saint and am not worth worshiping. I have killed and am capable of such. I am a monster, and all those near me inevitably meet a terrible fate. Just as my sweet Anton did...but those are days not to be spoken of.

There have been many genres of books and, more recently, movies that I enjoy. Overall, though, it would have to be Horror and Suspense.
