Eight
His lips brushed my neck; I thought I would melt. His fingers were entangled in my hair; I wanted him to never let go. His eyes, so crimson, so deprived of…me?; I wanted to hold him and tell him I was there. We gazed at each other; the dead bomb finally sparked.
“Scarz, what did you mean by “no choice”?” Though I knew the answer, I didn’t know what to believe. Were these emotions results from gazing into his eyes or was it just my doing?
“Give me your blood and I’ll tell you,” He smiled and nuzzled my neck. I suddenly realized he was still on top of me, so, with all my strength, I shoved the hundred-something pound vampire off my body. He looked at me like a little boy who got his candy taken away. “What the hell was that for? I saw what you were thinking, you like me, don’t try to hide it,” He snarled as he rammed into me, making me loose my usually sturdy balance. I fell back and crashed onto, guess what it was? The footboard of my bed. A nauseating crack was instantly formed along with a groan of pain. How many times do injuries occur in both my lifetimes? Numbly I fell to the floor, face first. I saw vague figures hurry into my room, but I couldn’t make out who they were.
“Scarz, WHAT THE HELL DID YOU JUST DO?!” Zane screamed, running over to me. Checking my pulse, he kept screaming at the vampire who lusted for me.
“Don’t move,” I heard someone-Scarz? answer. Flawlessly, he blurred and reappeared by my side. “Sweetie, you’re going to be okay. See? You’re already healing,” I felt his cool fingers run down the back of my neck. They comforted and soothed, sort of like minty Chap stick. I opened my eyes to see Scarz directly in front of my face. I smiled and expected him to kiss me. Grinning, he leaned down and I closed my eyes lightly and I felt as if I was being lifted up bridal-style. Exposing my irises, I found myself sitting on the edge of my gothic bed. Beside me sat my current crush, well, I think he’s my crush…?
“There, are you alright?” The concern was genuine, I swear I’ve never seen that part of him.
“Tess, tell me, WHAT DID THE BASTARD DO TO YOU?!” Seizing both my shoulders, Zane bore into my eyes, desperately searching for a reason to kill Scarz.
“Chill! He did nothing, I was clumsy, that’s all,” I replied tediously. Narrowing his hatred-filled blood red eyes, he stood up smoothly and struck Scarz across the face. Quickly, I turned around and gasped. Without thinking, I put my hand up to his face. He flinched, but he held my hand there.
“And after hurting you, you still love him. Hell, do you need me to slap some sense into you too?” Those last words did it; they pushed me off the cliff of self-control. Vacantly, I stood up and smacked him across the face like he did to Scarz. Before my hand became in contact with Zane’s face, Scarz already stopped it.
“Fight fire with fire and someone just gets hurt,” He explained. Getting up himself, he burned his eyes into Zane’s and delivered a brutal blow into his stomach. Helplessly, I watched a betrayed Zane exit my room. Suddenly, I felt tears slither down my cheeks like little snakes. Scarz instantly noticed and wiped them away with his index finger.
“Don’t cry, he’s not worth it,” Trying to soothe me was like attempting to get a baby to shut up. Losing a friend was painful, but I guess a boyfriend was worth the price…wasn’t it?
